((okay, my turn to apologize >< papers taking up almost every waking moment of my life for the past few days. So Sorry! I'll post more next time >< ))
Toris chuckled a little. "I highly doubt this guy actually put any thought into making this...whatever it is." This had to be the worst art exhibit Toris has ever been to and Toris hasn't really been to much art exhibits. He started to wonder why would someone think its a good idea to send him an invitation for this anyway. He's never actually beenlooklly interested in art to begin with. He turned to look at Ms Vargas and saw that she was blushing again. Toris was worried that he might have angered the Italian woman again with something he unconsciously might have said and decided to change the subject away from the art exhibit.
"So..um..What line of work are you in Ms Vargas?" since he don't suppose someone is able to get by in America for at least three years without a steady job.

((No worries, we're even now :3 Good luck on the essay(s), brochacho!~))
Still scowling in confusion at the sculpture, Toris's question made Chiara jump. Why'd he have to ask that question, out of all the possible ones in the world? It would be a bit hard to answer. She stood completely still, as if she hadn't heard him, trying to formulate a reply. Obviously, she couldn't tell him she was a member of the mafia. So, she'd have to lie. And she was okay with, because she knows she's a good liar. But, she's not a good lying on the spot.
"I'm unemployed, but looking for a job," she replied, hoping he couldn't hear the nervousness. But, she knew herself well enough to know that he could tell. She internally winced, and shot out a question before he could comment on her obvious half-truth. "What about you?"

((Thanks! And I'm left with 2 more papers! Yay ))
Well that was a lie obviously, Toris could tell. But when Ms Vargas shot that question right back at him, it was his turn to lie. He wasn't a very good liar either but then he did have another part time job elsewhere. He rarely works there but his employers don't seem to really actually care about whether he shows up or not. Its not like they get much customers there anyway.
"Uh..I kinda have a part-time job in a cafe.." well that was half the truth. He sure as hell can't tell her he's actually part of the mafia. Who knows if she was a cop or something?

((YOU GO, GLEN COCO.))
Chiara couldn't help but feel right. Toris was just an average guy, with an average job, and an above-average tolerance for her bullshit. If she had told him about belonging to the mafia, it would have done nothing but scare him off. Hell, he might even have called the cops. The place was crawling with them, although she hadn't spoken to one since she had first arrived.
There was another awkward pause where she stood there, reveling in being correct, and trying to think of a comment to make about his job. It sounded very ordinary. She was a bit jealous. Chiara had been looking for a normal job.
"What is your job like?" She asked, genuinely curious. Maybe he could hook her up with a job at his normal-seeming cafe. That would be very nice of him, and Toris seemed like a nice man.

((Glen coco? XDDD ))
Toris was actually quite glad they were able to keep a conversation with this topic, despite it being quite boring. But it sure beats the awkward silences from before.
"Hmm..well, it's quite boring actually. We don't get much customers, the pay's not very good...and the employers don't seem to really care about those who work there, especially the foreign ones. They just hire people to keep the place running and since there aren't alot of customers, they don't even really care whether you show up for work or not. And for some reason you still get to keep your job. " Toris scratched his head while saying the last part. It does seem kind of odd that they would keep the cafe running even when barely anyone shows up. Maybe they just have too much time and money on their hands.
Then he thought about how Ms Vargas was still looking for a job. Someone did just recently quit, or at least Toris assumed he quit since the guy just stopped appearing altogether, and wondered whether the Italian lady would want to work there as well.
"Um, the cafe's hiring people again if you're still looking for a job.." wondering whether she would take the offer or not. Since there were better jobs out there, with way better pay. Even if it was illegal.

((Mean Girls reference?))
The cafe was hiring? That made Chiara quite happy. She'd love to be able to work at a decent place. And they seemed to keep their employees at arms' length. That would be good in the future, in case she ever skipped work or showed up in a slight shabby form. She would even have a friend in the work place before she showed up. Well, possibly. She wasn't very sure of how much Toris liked her. Her behavior had been, in a word, humiliating. She kept completely still though, and didn't show any happiness at the idea of working there. That would be even more humiliating.
"That sounds like a crappy place," she mumbled in response, staring down at the forgotten sculpture with fake interest. "I think it would be good to see the place before I make a definite decision, though."
She was a bit self-satisfied with her response. She hated her tendency to show too much emotion. Chiara has to keep calm; otherwise she'd over react. How embarrassing would it be if Toris knew she wanted the job, and to hang out with him often, and to see the place because it sounded awesome? Ugh, she'd die!... And probably take a few people out with her.

((Ohh, i don't think i watched it before. Heard of the title though ><;; ))
"Hah, it does sound like a pretty crappy place to work. But still, you should consider it if you have no where else to go" Toris replied with a slight smile. He might actually have got someone he knows to work with him and can't help but to just smile. He must've looked like he's crazy or something standing there in front of that sculpture of who-knows-what and smiling widely.
Toris quickly regained his composure after awhile and looked at his watch. All this time and it was only 9? That's unbelievable, there just has to be more to this place than all these half-assed art pieces. He looked around to see how most of the crowd are starting to lose interest in the art and seem to just hover around the area.

((It's a terrible movie with amazing quotes ))
After Chiara had accepted to come and see the cafe, Toris stood their a bit of a silly smile. She turned to face him completely, a bit confused. It couldn't have been because of her, could it? She blushed. Stupid American immigrants and their embarrassing friendships. Damn them.
She scowled, angry in general for the embarrassment but secretly happy she made someone smile, and looked around. People were simply standing around socializing. Not a single bit of conversation she caught was actually about the art. She may have been new to this, but she assumed they were here for art. There was no way in hell she was hanging around too much longer just to awkwardly stand around and look at shitty art.
Moments later Toris had dropped the new smile, and returned to his normal nervously shy expression. She felt it was safe to reply to his statement at that point. Still embarrassed, scowling, and not looking him in the eye, Chiara said; "I don't really have anywhere to go. And anywhere hiring can't be too bad. I might consider it. Maybe."
